Been looking for great, authentic Indian food in Halifax for a very long time - found it here. Storefront isn't much to look at but food is spot on - great flavour, variety and competitive prices.

Hands down, the best biryani I’ve had! The rice is perfectly cooked, fragrant, and full of rich spices. The meat is tender and juicy, blending beautifully with the flavors. Served with raita and salan, it’s a complete treat. ...

I ordered lunch box from Aviyal in Lower Sackville last Friday, and I was genuinely impressed! The flavors were authentic, and the variety in the lunch box offered a delightful mix of Indian cuisine. Each dish was well seasoned and perfectly balanced. The portions were generous, making it a great value for the price. The service was prompt, and my order was ready on time.

There was no option for dine-in, but the owner helped us out to eat over there, and the food was too tasty and delicious.

Management is receptive to feedback and improvements and don't shy away from facing the customers. Food quality and quantity is good. Breads are of decent size better than other Indian restaurants in the city. Tandoori starters, appetizers are over priced, they could reach better audience with proper pricing. Main course, sides, Breads are priced well for a good standard quality and quantity. Very consistent with takeouts and presentation of the dishes. As of now overall 5/5. Atmosphere is 4, as they can buy a box of salt during winter and take care of their property, however I think they prefer to wait for the plough truck to salt it, so be careful near the entrance and parking lot. Safety of customers is important so please take the initiatives.

I recently had the pleasure of take out at Aviyal restaurant. It was a delightful experience from start to finish. One of the highlights of our visit was the exceptional service provided by Mrs. Aishwarya and Vaishnavi. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Her recommendations were spot on, and she made us feel truly valued as customers. Now, let’s talk about the food! Each dish we tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The menu offers a wide range of options, catering to various tastes. We especially enjoyed their signature dishes, which were both delicious and satisfying especially the “MUTTON BIRIYANI”. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal.I can’t wait to return! Yummy tummy(photo added-emptied completely).

Aviyal Indian Kitchen Lower Sackville New restaurant that has just opened a couple weeks ago. Staff was very friendly there and helped out with the menu and made some suggestions. We got Lamb Vindaloo and Murgh shahi korma. We both got a side of rice and got a garlic naan to go with it. The lamb vindaloo was hot. As in it was hot spicy and just hot, it was like it didn't want to cool down. Even the table was warm after I moved the dish. Lamb in a red chili sauce. It was really good. The murgh shahi Korea was a chicken dish. It was a creamy cashew almond sauce with saffron. It was delicious. Really liked this one too. The Naan was bigger than I expected, almost forgot to get a picture it was so good. Definitely recommend here.

I recently used Aviyal’s catering service for my birthday party, and I couldn't be more impressed! The team was incredibly professional, helping with every detail from the menu to the setup. I had ordered their Malabar Ghee rice and Chicken curry along with chicken cutlets. It was for around 15 people the items were delivered on time and was more than enough for all guests. The food I ordered was truly delicious. Every dish is packed with rich, authentic flavors, and it’s clear that high-quality ingredients are used. The food had really authentic Indian taste.I highly recommend Aviyal for any catering needs – they made my birthday celebration unforgettable!
